Project partners meet activist Christos Kotsireas
May ’26
What is it that allows people with different experiences and perspectives to come together around a common purpose?
This was the central theme of the meeting held by Fotoessa, as part of the European Erasmus+ project “Guardians of the Coasts”, with the Portuguese partners Rita Sousa (Aequalitas), Rafaela Fortunato and Beatriz Pereira (Impactrip) and Christos Kotsireas, an activist and member of the Free Beaches Movement with many years of experience in collective citizen initiatives and social campaigns.
The discussion focused on the importance of active citizenship, collective action and cooperation between people with different experiences and perspectives when they are united by a common goal: the protection of the commons.
Mr Kotsireas made a particularly apt observation:
“It is remarkable how people so different from one another came together around a collective idea for the common good.”
Exchanging experiences with people active in different areas of society is a key element of the Guardians of the Coasts project, which strengthens dialogue, active citizenship and cooperation for the protection of coastal areas as commons.
